As it so happens I'm currently in the market for these as a new tow rig. And my answer to this DD/track/burn depends on that Ford. It looks like a single rear wheel while the others are dual. If single:
DD: Duramax
Track: Power Stroke (SRW + torque = fun)
Burn: Cummins, it was going to kill itself at some point anyway

If its just perspective and Ford is dual rear wheel:
DD: Power Stroke
Track: Duramax
Burn: Cummins (you cannot escape the flames of inevitability)

For the most part there are two categories of 'Murican truck owners. There are those who have them because they need them, whether its to tow 8,000 kilos of livestock/boat/race cars/etc or to get their quad bikes to the remote trailhead at the end of the muddy path halfway up the mountain. We have one because our rally car and trailer weigh a combined 4,500 kilos and there isn't anything else that can safely and practically tow that back and forth across the country.

…then there are those who buy one simply because its big, and by driving the biggest thing on the road they feel like they're bigger and more important. They are what we call "asshats"

Yeah, I see some Rams and F150s once in a while and usually they're work cars for constuction/civil engineering companies. I guess we have a lot of mid-size pickups to fill in for other purposes, such as the Hilux, Ranger, BT50, Triton, and Amarok. Utes are getting less popular nowadays because of these mid-sized pickups.

As for the asshats, they usually drive badly modified JDM cars.

The split is like 30/70 of your first group and second group.

You can also break down the first group to people who tow shit all the time, and people who do it once or twice a year but drive their truck every day.

Trucks are extremely popular in my city, and while many people here certainly use them, more than them probably don't.
